In this retreat Jennifer and Delilah will teach classes for that will be welcoming to beginners and yet captivating for experienced dancers.
RETREAT COURSE # 2 Begins

Belly Dance & Nia
with Delilah & Jennifer Earle
If you are familiar with both nia and belly dance you will know they share many of the same rewards, thus we thought we would offer them side by side. You can know nothing or a lot about either dance form and enjoy this rejuvenating retreat. Jennifer Earle is an professional certified Nia instructor that has been teaching at VDP Studio in Seattle as well as many locations. She is a lovely dancer and an inspiration to just be in the room with. Nia is a dynamic blend of dance arts, martial arts and healing arts and in essence, is a sensory-based movement modality aim at cultivating optimum health, fitness and well-being. It’s done bare foot like belly dance and can be adapted for all levels and abilities. It engages the mind, body and the spirit for fulfilling personal expression and life empowerment.
Belly dance is for all ages, sizes and perspectives. Delilah is an internationally acclaimed performer and instructor with an extensive instructional DVD series. She loves turning women on to its liberating faculties. It’s a sisterhood that facilitates lots of styles and objectives contemporary and ancient. It’s great exercise but is more than just fitness. It goes deep under the skin and teaches women about their lives, their feminine physical bodies, emotional bodies and psyches. As dancers get to weave our wordless expressions into a performance if we want to, or just dance along with our community of class mates. Fun costumes to play with too!
RETREAT COURSE # 2 Begins
Saturday February 4
FLIGHTS: Plan to Arrive at Hilo International Airport (ITO) 1:00 or earlier. Make time for everything you need. You may need to make a short stop at a store for items you didn’t want to pack. There are no stores near Kalani. Kalani’s is 40-60 minutes from airport by shuttle or rental car. It takes a 20+ minutes to get checked in, settled and ready for a afternoon class.
• 2:30-3:00 Goal is to check in at Kalani.
• 4:00- 5:45 "Power Belly Dance" with Delilah and music by Erik
Delilah Introduces basic body alignment, basic moves and back ground to belly dance. Introduces Power Belly weight belts for additional conditioning fitness.
• 6:00-7:30 Dinner
• 7:30- 8:00 Kalani Orientation with Jared, a Kalani representative.
• 8:00-9:30 "Introduction to Nia" with Jennifer
Nia is a dynamic fusion of nine movement forms and three arts: dance, martial and healing. It incorporates sensory-based movement arts that aim at health, fitness and well being. Class is done barefoot (like belly dance) to soul-stirring music. It engages the body and the spirit for fulfilling personal expression and life empowerment. This introductory class will include some of the basic and most common of the 52 Nia moves as well as the philosophy that movement should be based in pleasure and joy.

Day 2, Belly Dance & Nia
Sunday February 5
• 7:30-8:30 Breakfast
• 9:00-10:30 "Nia techniques" with Jennifer
Jennifer facilitates a Nia routine that emphasizes the movements of the base of the body: the feet, ankles, shinbones, knees, thighbones and hips.
• 10:45-11:45 "Slow Belly Dance Moves" with Delilah.
Including belly rolls, undulations and tummy flutters.
• 12:00-1:00 Lunch
Beach Day !
• 4:00-5:30 "Exotic Arms and Hands Techniques" with Delilah
• 6:00-7:00 Dinner
• 7:30-9:00 "Nia" with Jennifer
Nia routine that will allow us to continue exploring the creative movement possibilities base of the body. Class will also include a restorative and relaxing cool down.
9:00 Star walk and Lava sightings (sometimes you can see the glow from Kalani)
Day 3, Belly Dance & Nia
Monday, February 6
• 6:00 "Ritual Grounding and Centering Ritual Warm up" (over looking the ocean)
• 7:30-8:30 Breakfast.
• 9:00-10:00 "Energy Exercise" with Delilah with music by Erik
• 10-11:00 "Beautiful Hula Dance" with Richard Koob.
The founder of Kalani is a fabulous Hula Dancer and instructor
• 11:15-12:00 "Nia" with Jennifer
Jennifer facilitates a Nia routine that emphasizes the movements of core of the body: the pelvis, chest, head and spine.
Free Time; Pool Time, nap time read or get a massage.
• 4:00 -5:30 "Middle East Rhythm class" with Delilah and Erik.
Learn to speak Doom tecanese!
• 6:00-7:00 Dinner
• 7:30-9:30 "Veil Dance" with Delilah.
The veil is a wonderful instrument to dance and heal with. Feels like flight!
Day 4, Belly Dance & Nia
Tuesday, February 7
• 7:30-8:30 Breakfast
• 9:00-10:00 "Dancing in Nature" with Delilah
• 10:15-11:45 "Nia" with Jennifer
Jennifer facilitates a Nia routine that emphasizes the movements the upper extremities of the body: the fingers, hands, wrists, forearms, elbows, upper arms, shoulder joints, collarbones, and shoulder blade.
•12:00-1:00 Lunch
Full Free Afternoon to explore.
Maybe go to the volcano, steam vents or snorkeling if you choose.
• 6:00-7:00 Dinner
• 8:00-9:00 "Nia class" with Jennifer.
Nia routine that will allow us to continue exploring and creating hand and arm expressions.
• 9:00-9:45 "Body Talk Conversations" in the round.
5th Day of Belly Dance & Nia
Wednesday February 8
• 7:00-8:00 Breakfast
• 9:30-11:30 "The Universal Meaning of Movement" with Delilah
Part demonstration, lecture and movement participation.
• 12:00-1:00 Lunch
• 4:00-4:45 "Slow Power Belly Workout" with Delilah and Erik
• 5:00-5:45 "Nia" with Jennifer
Jennifer will facilitate a class that pulls together the base, core, and upper extremities for a dynamic, fun and creative experience. The focus of this last class will be the JOY of movement.
Dinner
• 8:00-9:30 "Casual Performance Evening"
We invite you to perform anything you would like to share.
Song, dance, story telling jokes. We invite the Kalani staff in to be our audience.
• 10:00 Closing ceremony
6th Day
Thursday February 9
Our Last day of Nia with Delilah and Jennifer
• 7:00-8:00 Breakfast
• 9:00-10:30 "Dancing Obstacle Course." We will incorporate a little bit of everything in a very fun movement exercise.
Pack and get ready to check out after lunch
• 12:00- 1:00 Lunch
